so very tired.

In the last three days I've worked 24 hours. Two of those shifts were until midnight. I'm wiped out. It's more a mental than physical thing. None of the shifts were bad. In fact, yesterday's was one of the most enjoyable shifts I've worked in a long while... I'm just tired. I want and need more sleep.

Last night I woke up around 2 because the wind was making a tree branch outside our window creak very loudly. I got up and rifled around in the desk drawer, hoping to maybe find some extra earplugs (Seth wears them to bed), but I couldn't find any in the dark. I finally fell back asleep with one ear pressed firmly into the pillow, and the other with a finger in it. When I woke up I had an awful cramp in the arm that was plugging my ear.

I also had strange, sad dreams, but I don't really remember them. And to cap it all off, Silas woke up this morning coughing, sniffling, and altogether sounding like death. I called into work and I feel terrible about it, but he can't go to school like this and I could use a day to rest anyway.

things you may not already know...

  • I love the flavor of coconut, but refuse to eat real coconut or anything with shredded coconut in/on/near it. I put coconut creamer in my coffee. i keep coconut extract on hand to use instead of vanilla in cookies, frosting, etc. But put a slice of german chocolate cake in front of me and I will pick the living crap out of it. At the end there will be a pile of coconut tainted frosting and anything that came too close to touching it. It's a textural thing.
  • I shave my arms. I know this is weird. I don't care. I hate having ANY hair on my arms.
  • I'm always in the middle of atleast one book. I read fiction CRAZY fast, and memoirs or factual books CRAZY slow. I also have subscriptions to 4 different magazines that are taking over my house. But I don't ever throw them away. I just make more piles on the bookshelves. I need to figure out a doctors office to donate my less-treasured ones to.
  • For some reason, I LOVE movies about presidents. Fictional ones. Dave, The American President, and My Fellow Americans are three of my all-time favorite movies. I plan to see W. in the theater, even though it's about a real one. Oddly enough, I've never even seen Nixon or JFK, but I would probably love them.
  • I'm fat and am not trying to lose weight, have no desire lose weight, and love myself EXACTLY the way I am. I know this is a foreign concept for a lot of people.
  • I have an impressive purse collection. There isn't a single designer in the lot, nothing namebrand or expensive, and that's the way I like it. I own about 30+ purses that cost me anywhere from $7 to $30 each. I've got brown, black, turquoise, kelly green, bright yellow, purple, winter white, gray... If I try on ANY outfit in my closet, I've got atleast two purses that will match it. I'm kind of the same way with shoes, but I own less shoes than purses.

In the last couple of weeks I've...

  • played a lot of Scrabble. Big surprise there.
  • started sewing again in my spare time. Lately at work, they've been cutting a lot of hours and I've had 5 weeks straight where I had 3 days off. It's given me a chance to catch up on some projects that had fallen by the wayside.
  • watched Spaced far too much. We borrowed the full DVD set from Seth's brother and watched each episode atleast twice. Some of our favorites were watched 3 or 4 times.
  • covered a shift at Starbucks on the day of my former boss' wedding. So basically, me and the girl I closed with were the only ones not invited. Apparently Amanda heard some rumor that I had made a comment to the effect of, "well, I wouldn't have gone even if she had invited me." I never said this. If I said something that was misinterpreted to mean that, I don't know. All I know is that I'm still harboring a lot of hurt from that situation and how it was left... I may be the only one, who knows. I can't change it now.
  • played Palin bingo whilst watching the VP debate. I won because she said drill, special needs, maverick, tax relief, and energy independence, giving me 5 in a row diagonally! W00T!
  • gotten completely sucked into Survivor: Gabon. Seth and I watched 5 seasons on the laptop between the end of Fans VS Favorites and the start of Gabon. We wanted to catch up, since we'd both sucked at watching the show since about 2003. I can tell you this; I like Ace far more than I thought I would, I'm relieved that Sugar isn't all gimmicky, and I think Marcus is going to win.
